Of the three books you read this trimester, which was your favorite and why? Please give specific examples as to why this book was your favorite. Was it the characters? The plot? The theme? The conflicts? The interest level? Which was your least favorite, and why? (You do not need to respond to two classmates for this entry) I hope you found the class enjoyable, and I wish you nothing by success in you future!
My favorite book I read during this class was The Maze Runner mainly because it left you with a lot of curiosity during the book because there is a lot of unknown things about the maze. I also liked the characters in this book the most because they were just trying to survive and they didn't have issues outside of just surviving such as family abuse or not having friends. I was interested in the plot the most in this book because the other two I read were kind of predictable and The Maze Runner was not predictable. The book I enjoyed the least was Stotan because it was boring and never got me interested in the plot.

ReplyDeleteOf the three books I read this trimester, my favorite was A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah because of its powerful theme. The book shows how war can destroy childhood and innocence, but also how healing is possible. Ishmael’s story of being a child soldier and eventually finding hope again really stuck with me. I especially liked how honest he was about his experiences, and how he slowly began to trust people again, like Esther the nurse. The theme of survival and recovery made a big impact on me and helped me appreciate my own life more. My least favorite book was Night by Elie Wiesel. While it was a powerful book but I didn’t connect with it as much as I did with A Long Way Gone. Both books are important but Ishmael’s story felt more personal to me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was Stotan! by Chris Crutcher because of how all elements of the book work together. The book has a really good theme and sticks to it well 'Never give up and stay strong'. I found the backstories interesting and really built up the characters to show how strong they really are. I also enjoyed the interactions the characters have showing them as more relatable instead of perfect swimmers. My least favorite was Game changer by Neal Shusterman. The characters are shallow. At first characters are in depth and have good backstories but ever dimension shift they lose some of the backstory. So the characters feel random and new people ever time. Don’t even get me started on the theme. The theme how to author probably wanted it ‘Don’t judge others for stuff they can’t change.’ Yes that is easier said then done but the author says it in such an awful way I feel like punting this book across the room. I read the authors best sellers and i can tell this book is not a best seller compared to Scythe this book is dirt while Scythe is a michelin star meal.
ReplyDeleteThe book i liked the best this trimester was Chinese Handcuffs because it was a quick read but also had me interested at the same time. It did leave me wondering what happened to the characters after the book ended because it left me on a cliff hanger. The characters meshed very well and the plot was interesting, it made me want to keep reading. My least favorite is a hard choose because I like all of my books but i would say A Thousand Splendid Suns because of all the graphicness towards the women in that country and how they were treated very poorly by the men. But the book was still good because it pulled me in every step.
ReplyDeletethe three books i read this trimester were staying fat for sarah brynes, a thousand splendid suns, and the silent patient. i loved all the books but i would say the silent patient was my favorite because it is the genre i usually lean towards. the book was also my favorite because the plot, theme, and characters kept me on my toes the whole time while reading it, i never knew what was about to happen which gave a nervous and anxious feeling. i didn't really have a least favorite book but if i had to read one of the other two again i would chose staying fat sarah brynes over a thousand splendid suns. i would say that a thousand splendid suns was my third favorite because some parts were challenging for me to read and all the wars going on confused me making it harder to read overall.
ReplyDeleteout of the three books i read this tri i would have to say my last one was the best i think it was because i could choose something i was more interested in rather than having to choose from certain ones. my last book was after life by Gayle Forman this book was very interesting the main character Amber has came back from the dead after 7 years and the whole town finds out including her ex boyfriend who people thought killed her, and the town wants to know if the family was hiding her death the whole time. i feel like the plot made it very interesting lots of times i was shock about what they had to say in this book. i would say my least favorite book was Chinese Handcuffs then kite runner would be my second choose and my favorite was after life, but overall they were all decent books to read!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book is probably Verity by Colleen Hoover which is the one I am reading right now. The characters in this book all have very interesting stories and there are many plot twists. This book is just very thrilling to read and the other books were not.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book as the last one (King of Wrath) because it was very entertaining it kept me engaged through out the book. One of my favorite parts of the was when she overheard the conversation from her fiancé and her father because it kept me wondering what she was going to do. The characters probably played a role because the way they were built up made the story make sense. The plot was that the characters are in an arranged marriage but caught feelings and have to decide whether to keep it business or actually date. The theme is decisions and what happens after. The conflict was the relationship and the dad and her fiancé's relationship. It kept my interest at all the time except when they were not together and talking to other people that does not deal with the plot. My least favorite was I Am Malala because the title is misleading and was mostly about her culture and her father when I wanted to hear her story.
ReplyDeleteOut of the books I have read this trimesters, my favorite book has been the last one I chose, One of Us is Back. It has been my favorite book because I have already liked the first two books so I already knew the characters and the back story plot so I had an easier time reading the start of the book because I knew I would probably like it because usually I have a had time wanting to start a book/read the first couple of chapters because I don't really care about the book or characters yet until a couple chapters in.
ReplyDeleteThe three books that I read this tri were Staying Fat for Sarah Brynes, A Thousand Splendid Sons, and The Kite Runner. I loved all the books but I would pick A Thousand Splendid Sons was my favorite because I had something going on in every chapter and it made you want to keep reading. The book was also my favorite because the plot, the theme of the book and especially the characters that tie the book together that kept me on my toes while reading, it kept me wondering what was going to happen next and it make me nervous when I was reading it. I had a least favorite which was Staying Fat for Sarah Brynes because I was late joining the class and I had to finish the book in two days and it was a very slow book at the start and then it got interesting and then it faded away but if I got to choose a book I would re-read I would choose The Kite Runner over Staying Fat for Sarah Brynes because it had the same storyline as A Thousand Splendid Sons but in a complete and different way which made it enjoyable to read. My favorite book was A Thousand Splendid Sons. second was The Kite Runner, and third was Staying Fat. I enjoyed reading all three of these books this trimester because it got me out of my comfort zone by reading true events that happened in Kite Runner and Thousand Splendid Sons.
ReplyDeletemy favorite book I read this tri was Running loose. This was my favorite book because it was related to football and had a good plot. I liked how it was action packed and there was always something going on, The plot twist in the middle made the book more intense and easy to read. My least favorite book I read this tri was A long way gone because it was just hard to get into but it made you see the reality of what goes on over there that we don't know about.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book in this class was Night by Elie Wiesel because of how deep and descriptive it was. It had something new and interesting on every chapter, and it kept momentum throughout the story to keep it flowing. The plot, the theme, and the conflict keep the book together and made you know that the main character had to perservere to survive in WW2. It flowed very well and was easy to understand and read. The book that was my least favorite is probably Stoton! as it was a very boring and slow book throughout the entire story. The theme was terrible about everyone is different. the plot was also bad as nothing ended up even happening and it annoyed me when the story left me on a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book of all three was Eleanor and Park. I really enjoyed the writing and the story told. I really enjoyed the struggles Eleanor and Park faced. I really enjoyed reading about their lives and about their relationship. I really enjoyed the plot and theme of the book. The ending ends on a cliff hanger, so I'm not the most happy about that. Other than that the book is really good. It has became my favorite out of the three I read as I really like the story. The story in the other two books were good, but this one is my favorite. My favorite character in my book is Park. I really liked him and how much he cared. How much he was there for Eleanor. Wanting to protect her and actually got in a fight over her to defend her. My least favorite book would have to be I am Malala. The story was fine, but it was such a slow book. It did not hook me like Chinese Handcuffs or Eleanor and Park did. Chinese Handcuffs I enjoyed that book, but not as much as Eleanor and Park.
ReplyDeleteI really like my 3rd book the most . The book had no meaningless death and worst that happened was the main character got arrested because of his bully. The only thing on his mind was beating his bully at his sport. To me I was calm and relaxing to read. My least favorite was Chine handcuffs because Dillon's brother blaming him for his troubles when he was trying to help him. Then his brother tricking him into watching him die knowing he was expecting a child. there's more but I don't want to type it all.
ReplyDeleteMy overall favorite book i have read was It Ends With Us i like how their was a movie with it so i could see what has changed from the book and i can connect it. I liked how their was a little romance but also drama and lots of things going on. My least favorite book i have ever read is A thousand splendid suns. It was alot about war and it was so long ago i was not instread in it. It was also hard for me to keep track of the differnt characters
ReplyDeleteOut of the books I have read this trimester my favorite to read was Night by Elie Wiesel. Its a quick read and if you are interested in the holocaust its a good book to read. It pulled me in right away and kept me intrigued. My least favorite book was probably Chinese Handcuffs because, it switched narrators a lot and was kind of confusing through the book, otherwise it wasn't a terrible book.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was running loose by Chris crutcher because it was the only book out of the three that I really enjoyed reading and could actually sit down and read for a while. I enjoyed the story it told and the conclusion it came too. The others were just to boring and I wasn't interested in them.
ReplyDeleteoff the rim is the 2nd favorite book i have had to read in this class my favorite is night i liked everything about that book but off the rim is really good to if you like sports and a mystery it talks a lot about basketball
ReplyDeletesoft hands glad you enjoyed it
DeleteMy favorite book was The Way of Kings because it was just so simply beautiful to read, and Sanderson's writing is purely genius when it comes to the character development that is seen through the book. One of my personal favorite moments from the book has to be when two of the main characters, Kaladin and Dalinar, finally meet after an entire books-worth of buildup. This moment is such an amazing thing because of just how descriptive the writing is, showing us the respect that is shared between the two.
ReplyDeleteOut of the three books I read this trimester, my favorite was Night by Elie Wiesel. I liked it the most because it was very emotional and real. It’s about Elie’s life during the Holocaust, and the things he went through were really intense and heartbreaking. What stood out the most to me was the main character, Elie. At the beginning of the book, he really believed in God and had a strong faith. But as he went through the concentration camps and saw horrible things, he started to lose his faith. My least favorite book this trimester was Chinese Handcuffs, because it didn’t make me feel as much. It might have had a good story, but it didn’t affect me like Night did. Overall, Night was my favorite because it was powerful, emotional, and made me think a lot about history and people’s strength.
ReplyDeletenight was definitly a good book and i enjoyed it aswell
DeleteFrom the three books I've read this tri, Stotan, The Kite Runner, and Rich Dad Poor Dad; Rich Dad Poor Dad was by far the most beneficial and rewarding book that i read out of the three without a doubt. The way the author in this book explains financial knowledge is so simple and easy to understand. This book has completely changed my outlook on money and honestly life itself. I feel like reading this book just saved me lots of financial stress and heartache down the road. 100% Recommend
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite book that I have read this year was the book called A Long Way Gone. I think it was my favorite was, because of the plot of the book and that kids were shooting men and launching RPGs at them. I think it was because it was real stuff that happened and that the war scenario happening was the probably why I liked that book the most out of all of them. My least favorite was Running Loose because it was so boring and the book just drove me nuts reading it. I just want to throw the book many times at the wall because it was terrible reading it.
ReplyDeleteMy overall favorite book I read for this class was Rich Dad Poor Dad. I liked it because the book has so many very important things to take away about how to build and manage your wealth. This book was my favorite one because any investment, finance, and overall money books spark my interest. My least favorite book I read this class was A Long Way Gone. I did not enjoy this book as much because a lot of the story was very repetitive with Ishmael going into village after village and barely escaping each time.
ReplyDeletethe rich dad and poor dad sound interesting I'll have to read it some time.
DeleteMy favorite book I read was my second, "The kite runner". I wasn't exited to read when I started but the book surprised me with its deep characters and character choices. The main character Amir goes on a redemption journey, starting off really not liking him and genuinely being proud of how he changes and makes up for his actions. My least favorite was probably my current book "Prince Caspian". This book, while still enjoyable, has characters that are more basic than my other books and near the end of the story, characters start to make decisions that make no sense and only serve to continue the story. There are a lot of interesting things in the book but its bogged down by the fact that its a book that's meant to appeal to kids and their level of story awareness.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book I read was The House Across the Lake. I liked this book the most because it had lot of suspense and kept me guessing the whole time and so this made me want to keep reading. The main character was very interesting, she was dealing with the loss of her husband and being an alcoholic. Sometimes in the book you were never to sure if what Casey was saying was true because she was drunk a lot. So this also kind of got me hooked and I wanted to keep reading to see if the things she was seeing or said was true. The setting in this book gave off a creepy vibe. Casey's cabin looks out over a lake and she spends a lot of her time spying on them with binoculars. Katherine eventually goes missing and this is when things got weird. My least favorite book was A Thousand Splendid Suns because it was a very sad story. The characters went through so much pain and it was hard to read.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the books I read this trimester my favorite was Looking for Alaska by John Green. One of the reasons this was my favorite book was the way it always left you on the edge of your seat, there was never a dull moment or a moment that was insignificant every part of the book was important unlike The Kite Runner which I found to have many dull or unimportant moments. Another reason I liked this book so much is the way I was able to really connect and understand the book due to it revolving around high schoolers lives and important events in there lives where as when I read The Kite Runner i had a hard time relating or connecting to the book. My least favorite book this trimester was The Kite Runner I personally found this book to be uninteresting and had a hard time staying interested.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book I read this trimester was Running loose. Running loose was my favorite because I connected to it the most because it was about a high schooler living in a small town. He went through a bunch of problems with the school and I know people who have gone through that. This book was very interesting and I never wanted to put it down. My least favorite book that I read this trimester was Dawn by Elie Wiesel. This book was a little boring at times and never really caught my attention. I did not connect as much to this book then I did to Running loose.
ReplyDeletethee three books ive read this year where stotan by Cris Crucher, night by elie wisel, and running loose by Cris Crutcher. my favorite book out of the three is most definitely Night by Elie wisel. this book is my favorite because i didnt know a lot about the jews and it is good to learn about that kind of history. i think this would be the most advanced book to read. i like a good challenge so it definitly gave me a run for my money. my favorate charictor was the father because he kept his hopes high and stayd with his son through it all
ReplyDeleteMy overall favorite book from this class has to be Night, because it has such a good plot and story and it was a short read. It was my favorite because of the heavy themes and detailed descriptions of what he had to see going through the Holocaust. My least favorite book was running loose because I like stories that are more about history, and it didn't really interest me to read it. It also didn't have as good of characters or plot in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book I read this trimester was A Long Way Gone. A Long Way Gone was my favorite because I liked how much detail it went to about Ishmael and how he had to survive running from the Rebels. I thought it was kind of funny when they would mix gunpowder with cocaine and give it to the soldiers who most of them are like fourteen years old just to keep them awake so when the Rebels would come they would be awake and could fight and not be caught by surprised. One part that really shocked me was when the soldiers had the kids do a throat slitting contest and whoever killed there person the fastest would get promoted and Ishmael won the challenge.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the books I liked A Thousand Splendid Suns the most I really like the plot of it, and how the characters grew in it. It was very detailed and it was also about stuff that is going on in the world today. I also felt like it kept me hooked and I wanted to keep reading it. My least favorite book was Chinese Handcuffs because it got very confusing as it kept going on. I kept getting lost with the characters and the plot. The letter also threw me off because it would bee a flash back when I thought it was going on in the book right then and there.
ReplyDeleteOf the books I read this trimester, It Starts with Us was my favorite. I enjoyed the storyline and how the characters personalities developed throughout the novel. This novel kept me interested and I think it was well written. I liked that it took off right where It Ends with Us ended and just continued the story. Many twists and turns kept this novel interesting. I am Malala was my least favorite book because I felt that it was very drawn out. I wish it would have been more about how she overcame her injury and was she did following it that made her who she is.
ReplyDeleteOut of the three books we all read throughout the trimester, my favorite book was my personal choice, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Why this was my favorite was because I felt like when I was reading I could actually picture what the scene looked like whereas the other two books it was kind of hard to visualize what was happening in the scene. My least favorite was I Am Malala, it was really slow for my liking and so then I could not really get into it and I felt some of the chapters were just being repeated and just rephrased.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read Pride and Prejudice for a while, but it was too hard for me. I'm glad you liked it though! I read Malala too, and it was not very good. I couldn't get hooked onto it and it was very slow paced.
DeleteMy favorite book I read this trimester for English class was Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, because the beginning of the book was slow but the ending it got really interesting. It explained why Eric stayed fat for Sarah Byrnes and he tried to visit Sarah Byrnes in the hospital whenever he could and whenever he wasn't busy and Eric also tried his best to protect Sarah Byrnes and risked his own life because Sarah Byrnes's father hurt her when she was little and Sarah's mother ran away from him without Sarah and therefore when Sarah Byrnes's father asked Eric where Sarah Byrnes went Eric kept telling Sarah's father that he didn't know where she was and couldn't tell him where she was which resulted in Eric running for his life and being stabbed and running to his enemies auto shop place for help then the next thing Eric knew he woke up in a hospital room. I think it was a mixture of the characters, plot, theme, the conflicts, and the interest level. My least favorite book I read this trimester in English was I Am Malala, because it was just so slow and all she basically did at the beginning was talk about her family and their history and the meaning of their names and all of that and in the middle of the book towards the end of the book was when she got into the story and talked about how she was shot and how she survived.
ReplyDeleteI fell that with I am Malala but it was a good book in the end
DeleteOut of the three books this year, I really enjoyed all of them. I liked how all of them were very different from one another! But if I had to choose, I would choose STAYING FAT FOR SARAH BYRNES. I really enjoyed this book because it made me sit back and think about the life I live. Meaning, if you are getting abused, leave... you should never stay. Sarah left her dad and got help, which is exactly what she needed to do. This book was my favorite because it showed perseverance throughout the entire book, which is something I need to be reminded of! The way Sarah was honored to have a best friend like Eric. This book also left a big impact on me! I loved the suspense throughout the entire book but especially the ending. All the characters were very different. Which was nice, because it gave all the different characters different personalities to follow. Overall, I feel that this book was just a very interesting yet impactful book! Like I said, I really enjoyed all of the books, but my least favorite would be kite runner as it was a more confusing book. This one dealt with more war and things that did not make sense to me.
ReplyDeletemy favorite book was the last book I read, A Thousand Splendid Suns, because it was all around shocking. it starts off with Mariam's mother hanging from a tree because Mariam went to visit her dad, to Laila's parents getting blown up. To both of them getting married to the same 40-year-old man. then Mariam killing her husband because he was about to kill Laila for talking to a childhood friend/boyfriend she hadn't seen in 10 years. I physically cannot get enough of this book, it was so good. my least favorite was I Am Malala because i felt like i wasn't in the book, and it was really had to get hooked.
ReplyDeleteI also read Malala, and I wasn't very impressed with it. It was hard to get hooked with that book and there were too many funny words. A Thousand Splendid Suns sounds very interesting; I might have to read it!
DeleteMy favorite book i read this tri was loose Runnings. It was a vary good book constant switches where you never knew what was gonna happen. every chapter some crazy new thing happened like louie storming off the field or his yelling at Becky's funeral. i liked the charter devilment that is featured in the book the author dose a good job of showing this. This was a vary enjoyable book that i would highly suggest to upcoming seniors planning on taking this class.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was Running loose. I enjoyed it because the characters were very relatable. Louie and the other characters were going through the same things that we go through. The huge twists and crazy story was the main reason I couldn't stop reading it. I was not expecting Becky to die, and the way Louie reacted to was interesting, and i couldn't put it down. My least favorite book i read was the Adoration of Jenna Fox. It didn't really have much action, but it was still very interesting and made me think a little bit.
ReplyDeletemy favorite book i read this trimester was the last one, The formula i liked it the most because i love formula 1 and the whole book was learning more about the history and interesting things about the sport, i learned about things i never knew happened, like "Spygate" where a McLaren engineer took the design and specs of the Ferrari car. it was also very cool to learn about what made certain teams so fast. like alpine that revolutionized the in car computers. i would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in cars and just racing in general its a great book
ReplyDeletemy favorite book i read this trimester was The kite Runner, i liked the kite runner because it was a big shock to me on how life was in Afghanistan and learning how different life is. my favorite part of the book was when Amir was getting beat up and Hasson's kid saved Amir by putting a sling shot, right into his eye. it was a great read.
ReplyDeleteI read Night, Speak, and Stotan. Out of those three books my favorite is Night. I have always liked war books, but this one had so much detail to it compared to others I've read in the past. Stotan was a bad book in my opinion, it barely had any detail and i got bored reading it every time i had to. Speak was a good book, but Night was just better. Night felt so real, and i learned from the experience Elise Wiesel went through. The most engaging part of the book was when all of the jews were forced to watch as the Germans hung a few jews. This part made me realize that the Nazi's had no intentions to save any jew. This book took place in a few concentration camps, where they were beat and abused throughout the entire book. The theme of the story was to show how harsh the Germans were. The fact that the jews were mentally drained so much, that they would kill their own family to get food. Speaking of food, the whole time jews were starved. They went a week at a time without any food. Their living conditions weren't any better. They slept in the cold and worked in it too. The experience that the jews went through is truly horrific. This book always kept you on your toes. Every time you thought you reached the peak of the book, it pushed a little further. Stotan on the other hand was one of, if not the worst book i have ever read. It was so boring through the whole book, and i had no interest in it what so ever. I would recommend it to anyone, and if it was my choice I'd burn every copy there is out there.
ReplyDeletemy favorite book i read this tri was night it was the most interesting and fact backed it was the theme of the book that i liked the most because it was making me realize what they went thru. my least favorite book was the rest 0f them.
ReplyDeletei think my favorite book was my choice of book, which i picked it starts with us. i loved the characters and the plot i love, love stories and having the dramtic things pop up and being mad and then being happy i really enjoyed the book. of them being teenage loves and splitting up and then finding each other later in life and then being togther for the rest of their life.
ReplyDeleteOut of the three books I read this trimester, No Longer Human was my favorite because of its powerful plot and deep themes. The story of Oba Yozo really stuck with me—the way he struggles with identity and feeling disconnected from society was intense and thought-provoking. I liked how honest and raw the writing felt, and the message about not fitting in really hit hard. On the other hand, my least favorite was Running Loose because it was pretty slow and didn’t hold my interest as much. It had a good message, but it just took too long to get there.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was my personal choice book, "All of your Perfects" by colleen hoover. This book was very interesting from the beginning with all the conflicts between the two main characters. Throughout the novel the characters struggle with multiple different ups and downs through their relationships. My less favorite book was the second book, I am Malala. it was very predictable of what was going to happen and could not stay focus with how uninteresting it was.
ReplyDeleteOut of all three books, my favorite was the third one. I like that we were able to pick what one we wanted. I read The Grace Year by Kim Liggitt, and it was such a good book. I loved that you never knew what was going to happen next in it and how Tiereny's character developed throughout the book. One thing I didn't like in it was how we didn't get to see the actual ending of the book. The author makes you guess what happens and I hate when authors do that. I also wish that Tiereny and Rhyker would've ended up together. Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes plot twists.
ReplyDeleteOut of the three books that i read, Night was the best book because the plot of the whole book was very intriguing and i really enjoyed the in depth descriptions of some of the settings and conflicts that happened throughout the book. I also really enjoy reading about war and the history of war before i was alive.
